BASE METALS

Base metals, typically copper (Cu), lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) are a group of metals of lower value than precious metals such as gold, platinum and palladium. However, these metals are important and are the basic building materials for much of the world around us.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are committed to working in partnership with local communities.

ABOUT US

Great Glen Resources Ltd. is an early-stage private mineral exploration company, focused on exploration for base metal (zinc and lead) deposits in the Republic of Ireland.

The team consists a mix of young geologists, technicians and expert consultants. All hold professional accredited qualifications in the geosciences and are members of several national and international geological institutions including the Irish Association of Economic Geology (IAEG) and the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG).

WHAT WE DO

As an exploration company our sole aim is to search for mineral deposits in the ground. The information gathered during exploration is used to assess the potential size and prospectivity of a mineral deposit with the aim of further development.

Our work involves non-invasive to low impact methods including desktop-study, soil sampling, rock sampling, geological mapping and passive geophysics. Prospecting licences permit such work with the consent of stakeholders. Prospecting licences do not permit mine development nor does the granting of one mean that a mining licence will be granted in the future. Irish law and regulation protect sensitive areas. This company or any wishing to carry out exploration must submit in-depth environmental impact assessments to the authorities for independent assessment.

For more information on the law and your rights as a stakeholder please contact the Exploration & Mining Division of Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.

OBJECTIVE

To responsibly undertake exploration in the Republic of Ireland, with the consent, cooperation and input of the local communities.

STRATEGY

Employ non-invasive exploration methods such soil & rock sampling, geophysics and geological mapping to identify specific areas of interest across the country.

AIM

To increase geological understanding and determine the overall prospectivity of a number of regions.
